Our One-Stop Build Solution

We recognise the intricate nature of managing multi-phase construction projects. That’s why we’ve developed a one-stop build solution that includes the design, planning and construction.

Project Highlights:

Knights Agriculture were recently appointed by an existing client to undertake all earthworks and civils for a large broiler site in North Wales.

The scope of earthworks completed so far has included excavation of over 200,000 tonnes, launching with initial site surveys and design, followed by cut and fill to formation, digging of cable trenches for electricity diversion and concluding with trimming.

The Solution:

A challenging location from the outset, topographical surveys and test holes revealed the requirement for a sizeable topsoil strip and large cut of a hill to level the site. First into action was one of our GPS guided D7E Dozers, completing the strip of the main site and tip areas.

The project was hampered by bad weather on several occasions as the ground became saturated, shortening working hours available to complete the project on schedule. The team also encountered an excess of hard rock during the cut and fill, requiring one plot to be over-dug by 1m and the deployment to site of larger machinery in the form of a 50T excavator capable of digging and ripping the rock down within 3m of formation.

In total, the team moved almost 220,000 tonnes, with rock carted to an area specified by the client for re-sale and surplus muck material being engineered and then topsoiled in the tip areas to produce additional acreage to the farm.

Trenches were ripped and dug out, and engineered back up to formation level, with the team finishing with tidying and trimming. Despite the obstacles, all works were accomplished within the set timeframe, enabling the client’s project to advance through to the mobilisation of the Civils Team.
